LDS Church Provides Emergency Relief to Northwest Flood Victims

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is providing immediate emergency aid to victims of the recent flooding across western Washington and Oregon.

Local church leaders are working and coordinating closely with county and state disaster response agencies and with the American Red Cross. Three church buildings in the Centralia, Washington, area are being temporarily used as Red Cross shelters.

Food, water, cots and other supplies have been delivered to community shelters from local church storehouses. An additional three semi-trucks have been dispatched to the area carrying a total of 5,300 cleaning kits, 1,500 hygiene kits and 1,500 blankets.

Church leaders are currently assessing needs for volunteer cleanup efforts for affected families. These efforts are being coordinated with local disaster response officials.
